How Does HSV-1 Effect the Body
HSV-1, so-called "fever blisters or cold sores." commonly causes infections in the mouth, lips and just about any other parts of the body, Though HSV-1 outbreaks recur less regularly than genital HSV-2, it can still be transmitted to others and can be very unsightly.
How Does HSV-2 Effect the Body
HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the viruses cause, but they also are released between outbreaks from skin that does not appear to be broken or to have a sore. Generally, a person contracts HSV-2 infection during sexual contact with someone who has an outbreak occuring, but there are rare cases where the virus is active on surfaces that may have contacted the infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.
